First 5 Mono is hiring Peapod Leaders for our Walker and Benton area playgroups!

First 5 Mono has two separate positions:

• Part-time Playgroup Leader for the Walker area (click here to apply)
• Part-time Playgroup Leader for the Benton area (click here to apply)

The Peapod Program’s focus is the development of playgroups for Mono County parents to enhance the health, social, & emotional development of children ages 0-5 and support the mental health and stability of young parents.  The program also provides a safe and secure setting for parents to discuss mental health issues and issues facing new parents to increase the knowledge and confidence of new parents and provides a forum to encourage new parents to gain a stronger tie to their community.

The State of California recently launched CalKids to help as many California children prepare financially for a post secondary education. CalKIDS provides all newborns up to $100, and eligible low-income public school students enrolled in first through 12th grade up to $1,500 to start saving for college and career training. Families are encouraged to build on this investment by opening and contributing to their own account with ScholarShare 529, California’s official 529 college savings plan.

El Estado de California lanzó recientemente CalKids para ayudar a muchos niños de California a prepararse financieramente para una educación postsecundaria. CalKIDS proporciona a todos los recién nacidos hasta $100 y a los estudiantes elegibles de escuelas públicas de bajos ingresos matriculados del primero al 12º grado hasta $1,500 para comenzar a ahorrar para la universidad y la formación profesional.
