MONO COUNTY ALERT: Residents Urged to Prepare for Upcoming Storm

Don’t be caught off guard!  The Mono County Office of Emergency Management is urging Mono County residents to prepare for the upcoming weather event.  This includes preparing for potential power outages, road closures, and limited resources.

As storm season approaches, it’s crucial to stay prepared.  Here are some essential tips to keep you and your loved ones safe:

  1. Travel Safety: Plan your travel around storm events, mapping your route ahead of time, and checking weather forecasts and road conditions. Avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
  2. Observe Road Closures: Respect road closures and barricades. They’re there to keep you safe and prevent accidents in hazardous conditions.
  3. Emergency Alerts: Stay informed by signing up for emergency alerts via READY Mono (https://ready.mono.ca.gov/).  These alerts provide timely information about severe weather and safety instructions.
  4. Emergency Kit: Prepare an emergency kit with essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and any necessary medications.  Visit READY Mono for more information.
  5. Communication Plan: Establish a communication plan with family and friends in case of separation during a storm. Agree on a meeting point and alternative methods of communication.

Remember, it’s better to be over-prepared than caught off guard.  Stay safe and be ready for whatever the weather brings!
